On August 12, the completion ceremony for a charity primary school built with the financial aids of CMEC was held in Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea. The ceremony was attended by guests from Equatorial Guinea including Mayor of Mongomo, representatives from the Ministry of Mines, Energy, and Industry, and Director of the Djiploho Hydropower Station Project Office as well as Chinese personnel involved in the power transmission & transformation project for Djiploho Hydropower Station.
The completion ceremony took on distinctive African features. The guests were warmly welcomed by all the teachers and students of the school and local residents who lined along the roads, dancing and singing. During this ceremony,representatives of all parties concerned delivered passionate speeches and a series of solemn religious rites were held including caroling led by a priest and sprinkling holy water. Then Mayor of Mongomo cut the ribbon and presented the ceremonial bow to CMEC as a token of his gratitude. On behalf of the Chinese side, Xie Chunxiao, site manager of the project from the 7th Complete Plants Division, delivered a speech and donated stationery and sporting goods to the school.
The charity primary school embodies the vision of CMEC for a bright future of life for children in Equatorial Guinea. CMEC’s donations to the school have been warmly welcomed by the local government, thus promoting CMEC’s influence and reputation in the African country, and consolidating the time-honored friendship between the Chinese and Equatorial Guinean peoples.
